slashTHREE: LCDC
Le Cirque Des Couleurs (The Circus of Colours) is slashTHREE’s fourteenth release. The collective chose to follow the somber, dark mood of Unleashed with a bright, vibrant exhibition filled with abnormal imagery and obscure double meanings, often conveying an eerie sentiment to the viewer.
The combination of vibrance, deep meanings and eclectic, off-the-wall shapes and figures produced one of slashTHREE’s happiest and most visually appealing exhibitions to date. A month into the release, senior artist Mart Biemans began a side project to compliment the exhibition, dubbed Le Grand Cirque Des Couleurs (The Grand Circus of Colours). Mart’s vision for the project was to create thematic, typographical treatments of each letter of the exhibition’s title.
Le Cirque Des Couleurs and Le Grand Cirque Des Couleurs received a fantastic public reception, earning immediate features in Computer Arts Magazine and on the Behance network, among others. slashTHREE chose to recognize German artist Erik Schumacher as the featured artist for this release; his three high-quality submissions captured everything that the collective had aimed for with the theme.
